Professor Stephen Brown, University of Ulster

Stephen Brown is a professor at the University of Ulster who rarely courts the limelight. His publications which numbers close to 20 books including 'The Lost Logo' and 'Brand Wizard' and countless studies of different elements of marketing have earned him many controversial titles including the 'Anti-Christ of Marketing'.

Stephen Brown will be speaking about his work and marketing theories including his books on deciphering the marketing behind Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code and the BRAND magic that has gone into the world wide phenomenon that is Harry Potter. Gavin Bell, Author of 'Building Social Web Applications'

Gavin Bell originally from Belfast, is a distinguished academic and consultant, who has been closely involved with many major developments in digital communication.

Michael Maguire, Director CIM Ireland

Michael Maguire is a management consultant who specialises in marketing and brand development and who has had a long association with The Chartered Institute of Marketing. In a 40 year career he has held senior positions in national companies and multinationals and in the public sector, and for the last 20 years has worked in professional consultancy.

A frequent columnist and commentator on international marketing, his book 'It's Our Thing - 300 Years of Irish Brands' for release in May 2010 is a fascinating insight to the origins, development and contribution of Ireland's brands down the years, and provides valuable lessons on contemporary brand placement strategies.

Open to all businesses in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, the Chartered Institute of Marketing Awards is a premier awards event, which pays tribute to marketing excellence in businesses from young start up enterprises to major global companies.

Complete application form in BLOCK CAPITALS using black ink. When entering multiple categories; an application form is required for each category entered.

All supporting documentation should be typewritten and comply with rules for entry. (Limited to 4 sides of A4 paper, not exceeding 2000 words)

Award Category Criteria

Sectoral Excellence Awards honour marketing excellence in each of the core sectors that comprise contemporary business. Applicant companies may apply directly for ONE (only) of the following categories:

Personal Excellence Awards honour the outstanding contribution of marketing professionals as individuals in the success of an enterprise and/or their influence in educating, training and mentoring success in others. Applications will ONLY be considered from a third party who will provide a brief citation on behalf of a nominated applicant. Please note that 'self nominations' will NOT be considered.

Professional Excellence Awards celebrate marketing excellence in each of the following professional categories. Applicant companies may apply directly for up to THREE of the following categories and may cite an independent marketing services business as a co applicant where appropriate:
